Here Are 4 Of The Most Influential Pedi Rappers from Limpopo in Hip-Hop _ IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER!!!



Hip-hop has been bridging cultural gaps since its early days and it has been evolving bit by bit, when the music and art form spread from New York City to the world. Now, people from all walks of life follows this genre and its sub-genres.

We couldn't put them In no particular order simply because we just couldn't pick our favorite and they are all kings after all.

*Ngwato Wa Mrepha
Ngwato Wa Mrepha who was formerly known as King Solomon II is a Pedi rapper from Limpopo in the Jane Furse area under the Makhuduthakaga local municipality. He's an independent artist who's dedicated to the culture and he's also an inspiration to most cats. Ngwato try by all means to protect his work because he takes his gift seriously so, Most upcoming artists flood their music to all these shady file hosting sites which also contributes to piracy but Solo ain't one of those. 
His first body of work 'Deleted scenes" which contains the hard hitting tracks such as "Ke Nna" which was produced by his long time producer Cyrus Beatz was added to major music streaming platforms such as Tidal, Spotify, iTunes and all those others. Ngwato not only spits fire but he's also business minded and he founded Psych Ent Africa record label.
He also got nominated at the SEMA awards and scooped some awards at the well known Hip Hop Cares awards held annually in Limpopo.
Ngwato  never sacrificed his lyrical ability to proudly bring those mellow hard hitting bars in his mother tongue. Not only is he the greatest Pedi Spitter in Ga Sekhukhune... He's the realest one.

*Maleboo

Maleboo is a rap artist who was born and bred in Limpopo. He's the cat who's wish and  hope is to introduce Pedi Rap into the mainstream.
Maleboo creates some hard hitting pedi rap that caters to everyone and the thing which makes him stand out is the distinct traditional elements he intertwine in his heavy bars peacefully crafted in Northern Sotho language popularly known to the masses as Sepedi. His track 'Where I’m From"  has garnered him some plenty of fans all over Mzansi and his music is receiving some airplay from major radio stations across South Africa. 

*Papzito
Papzito is a Limpopo based spitter from Ga-Mphahlele area near Lebowakgomo.
 He is also a self proclaimed king of pedi rap, having taken home awards from SEMA(Sepedi music awards), SATMA(South African traditional music awards). 
He inspires many cats to spit in their own mother tongues, he said he often gets more than ten requests for features from upcoming rappers who wanna put out some work with him. He infuses the Pedi cultural dinaka/kiba music in his hard flow and delivers hard hitting track.
 His award winning 'Mokibelo'  track's Music Video  has received  some radio play and got Playlisted on Channel O, MTV Base and Trace Africa.


*Mokapoteni
Mokapoteni is a Limpopo born rapper from Moletji area  outside Polokwane. He started spitting in English but later switched to his mother tongue language Depending due to realising that Culture is key and important. Later along the years of perfecting his craft Mokapoteni earned the so called title of “King of Pedi Rap” by his fans because of his delivery and expression of bars that his fellow Bapedi people can relate to and  comprehend.

Mokapoteni got featured on  now defunct SABC's jam packed show Jam Alley (2007). In 2011 Mokapoteni released his sophomore mix tape titled “Rise of the darkness” that featured his hit singles “Mollo”, the hip hop version of “Hlokoloza”, “Pedi Warrior” which has received a huge amount of spins on SABC's Yfm radio station and earned him an interview as well. He also got featured on the SABC2 Dorp to Dorp Tour.


He released a 20 minutes song (freestyle) titled "Respect My Throne". He recorded a Radio joint for the well-known Thobela FM,(moswa le bokamoso) show which was spun  everyday for two consecutive years.
