J. COLE'S RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS KEEPS HIP HOP ALIVE
J. COLE'S RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS KEEPS HIP HOP SAYS A LOT ABOUT HIM...A RARE BREED
Even as one of the most successful and wealthiest rappers out, J. Cole remains a man of the people and still the humblest of them all (RAPPERS) of course. Who else among his peers would pull a charitable act by not only rapping over a YouTube producer's beat but allowing the song to stay on their channel even? That's motivation and J.Cole who once rapped about 'No Role Models' is definitely a verified Role Model to the whole Hip hop fraternity, especially to the upcoming wannAbe producers. It's always the smallest that matters, the rest is Cap 🧢
It's been a while since the Dreamville boss dropped some bars but he had a stellar spring nonetheless, year-end-list-worthy feature verses on tracks like Benny the Butcher's “Johnny P's Caddy,” Bia's “London,” and YG's “Scared Money.” But most recently a new song appeared out of nowhere—more specifically, on a producer named Bvtman's YouTube page along with a text message from Cole himself that gives some welcome context.
Apparently, on a particularly unproductive studio day, J. Cole turned to YouTube and searched “J. Cole type beat." (The popular practice of "insert-artist type beats" is a long-running one on the platform wherein up-and-coming producers make instrumentals that in some way resembles the artist in question's signature sound.) Bvtman's Cole type beat was the first Cole came across, and it turned out to be the type of beat to spark some creative juices in him.
“On a day when I couldn’t find much motivation, I was looking for anything to inspire me,”
Cole wrote to Bvtman. “Out of curiosity, I typed in ‘J. Cole type beat’ into YouTube. Yours was the first I saw. I pressed play, focused, and wrote this"
Cole went on, wrote to the producer, "This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world… God bless bro and keep doing what you do!”
