WOKE RAPPER | YoungstaCPT's Outspoken Activism Says It All

South African hip hop has come a long way since it first emerged on the scene. From being dismissed as a foreign import to becoming an integral part of the country's cultural fabric, South African hip hop has evolved into a powerful platform for social commentary and political activism. One of the key features of this evolution has been the emergence of "woke" rappers, artists who use their music to highlight social and political issues and spark conversations about inequality, injustice, and discrimination.

One such rapper is YoungstaCPT, a Cape Town-based artist who has built a reputation for his unapologetically political lyrics and outspoken activism. From his early days as a member of the popular rap group Dookoom to his solo career, YoungstaCPT has been at the forefront of a new wave of socially conscious rap in South Africa. His music tackles issues like police brutality, racism, and the various ways in which the country's history of apartheid and colonialism continue to affect  and haunt lives of its people
