2Pac - The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory is now 27 years old‼️ It was released on November 5th, 1996. It was the first posthumous album by 2Pac, although the tracklist was completed a week before his passing.
2Pac created 2 records with this album
- 1st rapper to go No. 1 (BB200) posthumously
- 1st rapper w/ 2 No. 1 albums in a calendar year
2Pac also became the first ever rapper to release two albums in the same year under two different artist names, as well as having Two number 1 albums in the same year and two number 1 albums under two artist names in the same year.🐐
Fun Fact 1: The released album title is a misprint. The actual album name is supposed to be "Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory" by Makaveli The Don
Fun Fact 2: The unreleased song "Watch Ya Mouth" was removed from the album during the final drafts. Also, the song "Friends" which was originally made to counter Nas' "If I Ruled The World" was replaced with "Just Like Daddy" during the first days of September 1996. It's unclear if 2Pac or Suge made the decision to change these tracks.
Fun Fact 3: 2Pac did intend to make changes to the album after squashing his beef with Nas on September 4th, 1996. 2Pac and Nas were set to meet in Los Angeles on September 13th. This would have made Pac edit or change "Bomb First" and "Against All Odds." It's also possible that additional songs would have then been recorded due to the fact that the album was several months away from the projected release.
Fun Fact 4: The idea of 2Pac being Crucified dates back to 1994 when one of the original names of the Me Against The World album was called "Crucified" and "Exodus".
Fun Fact 5: The song "Hold Ya Head" was written much earlier and appears on original concepts for "All Eyez On Me" album called "Euthansia". 2Pac recorded a 1995 version with The Outlawz produced by Soulshock and Karlin. This earlier version has never seen the light of day. Most fans didn't know of this existing, but I have confirmed it with the producers.
Fun Fact 6: Despite publicized information regarding the amount of time it took 2Pac to make the album, 3 days of recording is a complete myth. 2Pac worked on this album from July to early August 1996. Just a little over a single month. "Against All Odds" was recorded on July 8th 1996 and the last recordings for the album were "Just Like Daddy", "Ain't Nothing Wrong" and "Black Jesus" on August 12th 1996.
Fun Fact 7: All songs of the album were recorded in 7 studio sessions. (Hence the name change from 3 Day Theory to 7 Day Theory)
Fun Fact 8: 2Pac recorded 22 known songs during those 7 studio sessions spanning from July 8th to August 12th, 1996 and 52 songs from June of 1996 to September 1996.
