1. AKA
Rapper AKA whose rap moniker is Supa Mega was of course the first in the history of South African hip hop music to gain multi diamond certification from RiSA. He has also received more platinum plaques for his hit singles The World Is Yours, Caiphus Song, All Eyes On Me, and Fela in Versace which is undoubtedly a universal rap anthem. Kiernan Forbes also has other hot singles on his music catalogue that have been certified Gold and Diamond by the Recording Industry South Africa of course.
2. Kwesta
In 2019 Kwesta’s album DaKar II was the highest selling Hip-Hop Album in South Africa. Post DaKar II, The Ngud hit maker came up with a few platinum selling hit singles which were Day One, Mayibabo, Ngud which went platinum 7x and Nomayini that went platinum 3x. Even though some were pretty skeptical about her move to the rap world but she defied the odds and she is has been doing her thing ever since without looking back.
The rapper who recently signed a deal with Def Jam recordings earlier this year with a couple of other Mzansi's notable rap acts made history and became the first female South African Mc to receive a platinum plaque. Her first ever Nasty C assisted single Wuz Dat received platinum status. The song achieved 3.4 million streams at that time. She has also bagged a gold plaque for her feature on Yanga Chief’s Utatakho remix alongside her fellow Mc Dee Koala.
5. K.O
The Teargas hip hop group legend and Skhanda Rap Spitta bagged a platinum plaque for his single off his PTYunLTD album Supa Dupa at the start of the year 2020. The joint was the only track from the album to receive platinum status. The Asics brand ambassador has also went on to achieve Gold status for his most solid album Skhanda Republic which is highly rated.
