Is Cassper Nyovest A Culture Vulture?

Image
Cassper Nyovest, also known as Refiloe Maele Phoolo, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He is one of the most successful musicians in South Africa, with numerous awards and critically acclaimed albums under his belt. However, there is a growing sentiment in the South African music community that Cassper Nyovest is a culture vulture, someone who appropriates elements of different cultures for his own gain without proper understanding or respect for their origins. One of the most common criticisms of Cassper Nyovest's alleged cultural appropriation is his use of traditional African attire and symbolism in his music videos and performances. Many South Africans argue that he is exploiting these elements without paying proper homage to the cultures they come from. In addition, many feel that he only uses these elements when it suits him financially or artistically, without actually caring about the cultures behind them. For example, in his m

Cassper Nyovest Claps Back At Legendary Actor Patrick Shai For Calling Him Son Of A B**tch. Bophelo Ke Semphekgo Ka Nnete!

Legendary South African  Patrick Shai   recently appeared in a video that has gone viral and circulating like wildfire on social media platforms. In the video the popular veteran actor seemingly looks sort of drunk and he's appearing to throw some jabs at the 'Doc Shebeleza' hitmaker  Cassper Nyovest  and call Cass 'Son of a B**tch. This boggled many South Africans, it was very strange and and highly unexpected of such from  the 'Bophelo Ke Semphekgo' actor. All sorts of trash talking was done and Shai the old man lastly requested a boxing match with Cassper Nyovest who last month defeated the popular Mzansi podcaster Slik Talk. This is is strange from the old man and it seems he is getting tired of being lost in the hype. Publicity stunt they say. “This is the elder Patrick Shai. I want to meet you in the ring. I want to beat you boy. Before I die i want to make sure that I have beaten you. On my tombstone I want it to say this is the man who made C

South African Hip Hop Artists Whose Tracks Received Platinum And Gold Certification Plaques

After RISA modernized its rules for receiving gold & platinum status in 2018, the music industry has been flooded with gold and platinum recipients on an exponential level. However, any rapper or R&B singer who moves over more units without external help from fellow artists and receives plauge certifications should be cherished and heralded like the past and present icons who came before them. Nowadays any artist from all the corners of the world can become an overnight star and join the platinum club without big record label hype and all that. Since the dawn of hip hop music era both hip-hop and R&B artists have gone platinum with classical tunes that will forever live on, but only few folks have made history by reaching platinum status without featured artists. Here are 5 Mzansi hip hop acts that went platinum 1. AKA Rapper AKA whose rap moniker is Supa Mega was of course the first in the history  of South African hip hop music to gain multi diamond certificat

CASSPER NYOVEST vs SLIK TALK: CLOUT CHASERS IN MZANSI

Image
A South African YouTuber who once called Reason a failed rapper back in 2019 is heading to the boxing ring with CASSPER NYOVEST for 100K...1 Hundred Thousands Yesterday the Mzansi rapper tweeted "So it's set in stone. Not the fight I wanted to start with but at least dude had the balls to back his words up unlike all the guys who ran thier mouth and then ran away. I have a little bit of respect for him for taking the fight but i am going to knock him out! #FameVsClout " We can all agree social media has created a rapid phenomenon for rappers and all those industry wannabes: Clout chasing, posting fit pics wearing designer apparels on private jets, Rolls Royces and Bentleys on their stories flexing nonstop to portray and maintain that image of success. Or starting beefs with anybody and everybody to get the talk and hype going. But that's what happens when rappers forget about the music and only focus on retweets and being gangsters behind gadgets. Most of

Cassper Nyovest Culture Vulture Tendencies In Mzansi Hip Hop

Finally when Nyovest steam blew over, He was desperately trying to shed his image and preserve the momentum so he ran to Amapiano to suck the newly found genre dry too. We are not jabbing at Cass or something like that at all. It's just that it is purely annoying but to Cassper Nyovest these corny capitalism tendencies are paying off and keeping him on top of charts. It is no surprise that other fellow Mzansi hip hop artists are following this corny trend and embracing it. Last year the Pretoria based rapper Areece took to Twitter without name dropping anyone and said "They don't see Hip Hop as a culture they see it as a commodity" Of course Cassper Nyovest did not take that very well and he tweeted "Le tla shwa ka tlala for the culture. No zo lamba boy!!! Hehehe!!!". But Areece is still getting his fair piece of the pie while topping charts and scooping awards and not forgetting the Blackballing by certain industry gatekeepers. And o
